The Story of Tea!
13 reasons why you should start drinking tea
"More evidence showing the tea is capable of reducing the absorption of cholesterol into the system ( blood ) , especially black tea than green tea . This is very counter to what people think of all this ... "
Todd Porter
- Associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Kentucky and a researcher tea -
Tea is good for you . What makes it not good is when you start adding sugar and sweetened condensed milk when available, thus making greater adverse effects than good effects of drinking . You will be surprised if I say black tea (black tea ) more or less just ' great ' than green tea ( green tea ) , something with what you hear all this right? Over the centuries, so only drink tea without sugar , the taste is actually concentrated and chelate , rich in alkaloids , and that makes it nature as 'medicine' .
Scented tea , among my favorites. Sometimes only takes 1 teaspoon , sometimes not at all. Lets drink ...
Tea is said to have been synonymous with the Chinese community since 5000 years ago . According to legend , tea was discovered by Emperor Shen Nung in 2737 BC, during the era of King Five . Leaves of a tree is said to have fallen accidentally into the boiling water in a jug and mix scents that have made the emperor wishes to feel it. Amazed by its taste and smell , then he makes the national drink (Source from Hong Kong Tourism Board website , 2007) . The tree known as Camellia , now not only grows everywhere in China but throughout the world , thanks to a period of expansion the European powers in the 15th century who popularized this drink all over the world .
Entries this time I do not mean to tell tea benefits in terms of culture , history , socio-economic or how it is produced , but I'm trying to collect as much information as possible and tea specialties in science and health . Here is a compilation of such information .

1 - There are 2 types of polyphenols naturally occurring in plants and fruits, the first flavonoids and non- flavonoids second . The majority of existing polyphenols in plant / fruit on this earth are of flavonoids , which is why the two terms are used frequently to refer to the same thing , although not all polyphenols is flavonoids actually (some non- flavonoids ) . However, what is certain , all polyphenols anti - oxidants and anti- cancer ( anti -carcinogenic ) .
2 - Tea contains catechins ( flavonoids, polyphenols from category ) , an antioxidant which, according to the University of California , LA (2008 ) have anti- cancer effects , particularly against lung cancer and cancers arising from obesity .
3 -Freshly picked tea can contain up to 30% of the total dry weight of catechins from tea leaves is - this means green tea and white tea contains catechins can afford this high , unlike black tea which its catechins content was reduced after a process ' oxidation ' .
4 - Did you know that oolong tea , green tea , white tea and black tea are all derived from the same plant ? Distinguishing color , character and their sense is the process used , which is involved in the process of black tea ' oxidation ' long before being packaged and distributed , making the color of the original flavonoid yellow / green ' oxidized ' is dark red ( banana skin types , originally green / yellow , when already oxidized to darken over time ) . Examples of black tea available in the market is Boh Tea , Lipton , Sabah Tea , Ceylon Tea and so on .

5 - However , there is a big difference in terms of TOTAL antioxidants in green tea and black tea actually . What distinguishes between total antioxidant tea is more dependent on the way penyediannya , first , the temperature of the water used , the higher the temperature , the higher the antioxidant successfully extracted into the drink , and second , sachets factor , which is the use of sachets ( like tea sachets ) actually reduce the amount of antioxidants that successfully extracted into the drink as reliable mostly still 'stuck ' in the pouch (Source Langley - Evans , 2000) .
6 - Some studies also show tea can lower the amount of cholesterol in the blood while increasing the amount of 'good' cholesterol ( HDL cholesterol ) in animals and humans. These studies concluded that the polyphenol compounds in tea are responsible for the material blocking the absorption of cholesterol in the blood by human small intestine taken from the diet ( Fujita et al , 2008) .
7 - As discussed earlier, the polyphenols are also anti - cancer. Among the nine types of cancer proven by clinical studies to be associated with the practice of drinking tea in moderation is kidney cancer , breast cancer , ovarian cancer , colon cancer ( so far more scientific evidence in favor of women, for men still plausible ) , esophageal cancer , lung cancer , pancreatic cancer , prostate cancer , skin cancer , and stomach cancer (Source: University of Maryland Medical Center ) .

8 - moderate quantity mentioned above is about 3 to 5 cups a day. Excessive intake of up to 7 cups a day will result in Oxalate intake in the diet may be excessive. Oxalate can be chemically attached to the calcium and some other minerals in the body thus formed crystals / sand known as ' Calcium Oxalate ' - key components that make up coral reefs particularly in the kidneys. The study also showed that taking more than 7 cups of tea a day increases the risk of developing prostate cancer by 50 % among men.
9 - green tea extract containing polyphenols (catechins ) and Caffeine able to induce ' thermogenesis ' , promotes fat oxidation , and increases the metabolic rate 4% without increasing the pulse ( Dulloo et al . 1999, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition ) . But this fact can not be used " whole " when lower / maintain weight through its effect on weight loss is very small and less significant (see Kovacs et al . 2004 , PubMed ; Hursel et al . , 2009 , PubMed ) - for total weight control , calories concept is still taken into account.
10 - Black tea have more L- Theanine from green tea and black tea also contains Caffeine - both able to reduce physical and mental stress , generate intellectual and learning ( cognition ) and increase a person's mood .
11 - A study conducted in Italy showed black tea is able to lower blood pressure overall sample tested - the results of this study were presented in the " International Scientific Symposium on Tea & Human Health " the fifth in September last year at the U.S. Department of Agriculture , Washington DC
12 - Japanese scientists in a study reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition also found that adult subjects who drank more tea have a lower risk for stroke ( stroke ) , osteoporosis and intellectual deterioration .
13 - In conclusion , you can not look down black tea available in the market and only ' biased' against green tea alone would when talking in terms of health benefits of tea . This is because of the hundreds of scientific studies have shown both black tea and green tea are equally great and have their respective advantages . Tea is drunk preferably empty so alone ( without resign milk into it ) , this is because studies Langley - Evans (2000 ) (see no.5 ) show black tea when prepared / mixed with milk will reduce the effectiveness of antioxidants in it . Ideally drink black tea and green tea classic (empty ) and if necessary, just put the sugar in small quantities (no sugar better) .
